[Letting people show off really is for Xemnas' benefit. Others might find it terribly arrogant, but he found it full of useful information. Seeing other pokemon at their greatest power gave him an idea of what to plan for.. by way of catching his own or how to subdue the very creatures he's being shown.
It never hurts to be prepared.
