[Audio only. The voice is a rather pleasant baritone.]
Good evening, denizens of this new world, human and pokemon alike. I am Xemnas. Perhaps there will be a few of you who recognize such a name.
[His pleasant tone never wavers; there's almost no emotional inflection at all.] This is a world I know little of. I have studied the information I have been able to find, and this little foal has been very dutiful in attempting to aid me in that search. [At this, there is a small, cheerful-sounding "Blitz!" in the background.]
If one could supply further information, or where to find it, I would be ... grateful. But tell me, countless unknown strangers, is it truly so that the humans of this world avoid combat in favor of asking their pokemon to do it for them? My small friend here seems incapable of fighting anything much tougher than a tumbleweed- [A protesting whinny this time.] -and yet I am to rely on it for my defense against all this strange world might strike with?
[It's thoughtfully said, as if this 'Xemnas' has no investment in the question or possible answers.]
[OOC: yeah I stole the sample post off my app. ;_; guilty.]

Date: 2013-07-23 12:54 am (UTC)That's understandable. You could always choose to do so further down the road, though. I think there's something for everyone, really. Breeding, taking on all the gyms, travelling, collecting...there's a lot to do.
[audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 12:57 am (UTC)The ferry. She needs to re-check where that goes again, but at least he doesn't seem to be up to trouble. ]
Smart thinking. [ Not unexpected. ] The ticket will take up a lot of your initial funding, though.

Date: 2013-07-23 12:57 am (UTC)[...] Until a longer-term purpose can be found I suppose I will do what I must. Do you know if this region, or the 'Kanto' region, possesses a library I might make use of?
Audio
Date: 2013-07-23 12:59 am (UTC)[Should he warn the guy of newb trainers on the way? Naw.]
[audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 12:59 am (UTC)What do you call yourself, child?
Audio
Date: 2013-07-23 01:01 am (UTC)[It's no convenient corridor of darkness but sometimes you just have to hoof it. He seems untroubled.]
However the information is useful to have. [A pause.] Your assistance is appreciated.
[Audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 01:02 am (UTC)I can't say for sure about Kanto, as I haven't been there yet. I haven't seen a library personally, but if there is one, your best bet is probably Goldenrod City.
[audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 01:04 am (UTC)It's Xion.
[Audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 01:05 am (UTC)Nothing and I are very familiar with each other. I think I might prefer it, if I were truthful.
[Back to evenness; at least he sounds pleasant.]
I see. I will have to check the objects I have been given and see if there is a map. I do not believe Goldenrod City is near my present location.
[Audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 01:09 am (UTC)[Curious girl is curious. There was practically nothing in her world, and it was so lonely. Why would he prefer it? Sounding pleasant is a good change. Most people tend to sound lost and confused when they arrive here.]
No, Goldenrod is a couple of weeks travel by foot from New Bark Town. There should be a map function on your pokégear.
[Audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 01:20 am (UTC)[Chances were amazing Xemnas saw 'nothing' different than most people. He'd actually been able to manipulate it as a power source.]
... I will be certain to check for the map then. I admit I have not tampered much with this device as of yet, my companion has more interest in it than I have til now.
[In the background is a cheerful "Blitzle!"]
[audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 01:22 am (UTC)[It's repeated with slow thoughtfulness; he has the pronunciation right at least. It's naggingly familiar, but Xemnas can't quite pin down why.]
Very well, Xion. Your assistance has been valuable. Should we cross paths, I will remember it in your favor.
[Audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 01:27 am (UTC)It's a little confusing at first, but once you get used to it, it's really easy to work with. He sounds pretty cute.
[Audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 01:30 am (UTC)It has been a long time since I've experienced loneliness or boredom. I do not remember what it was like anymore.
[...]
Who's to say what I might find exciting, although new things are everywhere to be found. Perhaps I will grow fond of these battles that seem required.
[Although she can't see it, Xemnas falls silent for a few moments to regard his blitzle. Cute? He hadn't considered cuteness to be a factor.]
I suppose she is. Small things tend to be. She is an ... electric type, I believe. If battling is to be the future, I should find another element that compliments electricity well. As you have been in this world much longer, perhaps you understand battle synergy enough to make a suggestion?
[audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 01:35 am (UTC)[As the months go by, Riku becomes more and more irritated with the waepons ban, really. He's become far more focused on honing in his own strength, and it's clear through his tone that he's unhappy about the subject.]
As for your Pokémon, you can still let her fight without becoming reliant. Let her beat up some Pidgeys, Rattata, stuff like that. Weekly training ought to pacify her, and you don't have to sit on the sidelines while it happens.
[audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 01:48 am (UTC)[He could fight without blades or projectiles. A good, solid baseball bat would do fine, if he chanced upon one. Xemnas was practical enough to eschew something more elegant when simple brute force would do.]
Hm. Very well. I am certain such things are in the vicinity, it's simply a matter of finding them. Will that suit you, then?
[Something in his voice suggests Xemnas doesn't mean the last for Riku, which is demonstrated fairly easily by the skip of small hooves and cheerful burble of a pleased blitzle.
..And yet it's a puzzle. Why is Riku of all people being so helpful? Xemnas won't refuse the aid, but it does make him wonder. Asking may well forgo such unexpected assistance, and nothing he's been told so far went contrary to simple sense or what he'd heard from others. Was it the keyblade master's method of extending an olive branch, or something else..?]
It seems my small friend and I will be doing some hunting soon, then. How peculiar, to take an equine as one might a predator..
[Audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 01:48 am (UTC)Oh...
Maybe. You won't know until you try, right?
Electric...is weak against ground types. So a Grass type would help, I think. Pokémon sometimes learn attacks that aren't of their type too, which can help a lot. If you keep your team balanced though, you shouldn't have many problems.
[Audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 01:55 am (UTC)[There's a faint beep. He really doesn't know how to use this thing but he'll figure it out through good old trial and error.]
Perhaps luck will be in my favor and there will be grass species somewhere in the near vicinity. If a balanced team is advisable then knowing what to hunt for before beginning will be useful. Does this device list where a pokemon may be found, and what it is capable of as well?
[Audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 02:02 am (UTC)[audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 02:05 am (UTC)It's nothing much. I was in your shoes, once. It's only... right.
[Audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 02:07 am (UTC)[And one he's going to make, of course.]
Perhaps I will find someone familiar with the Kanto region. There is a ferry that will take individuals there, and if the most worthwhile pokemon are to be found there, perhaps it is a better place to begin.
[Another beep.]
Though this machine may allow a search by type..
[Audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 02:14 am (UTC)Unfortunately, I don't know enough about Kanto to help you decide. I plan on travelling there eventually though. Even if it's just to go sightseeing.
I think it does.
[That shows you how much she uses it. Not a whole lot.]
[audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 02:16 am (UTC)Paying it forward, then. Do not underestimate the value of given aid at the appropriate time and place, child. The thorn you remove today may gain the assistance of a lion tomorrow.
[It's a bit of a cold way of looking at it, even kindness stripped down to its usefulness - but Xemnas wouldn't offer what might be advice if he didn't think it would be worthwhile. In his own way, he is painfully predictable. It might not be dangerous to encounter him, with the right preparation.]
... Tell me, if you know. Where might one find a 'grass type' pokemon, close to this town?
[Audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 02:18 am (UTC)Hmm. It has been some time since I've had to learn by doing. Perhaps it will do me some good. Thank you for your assistance.
[Audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 02:31 am (UTC)I'm Ushio. It's nice to meet you.
