Good evening, denizens of this new world, human and pokemon alike. I am Xemnas. Perhaps there will be a few of you who recognize such a name.

[His pleasant tone never wavers; there's almost no emotional inflection at all.] This is a world I know little of. I have studied the information I have been able to find, and this little foal has been very dutiful in attempting to aid me in that search. [At this, there is a small, cheerful-sounding "Blitz!" in the background.]

If one could supply further information, or where to find it, I would be ... grateful. But tell me, countless unknown strangers, is it truly so that the humans of this world avoid combat in favor of asking their pokemon to do it for them? My small friend here seems incapable of fighting anything much tougher than a tumbleweed- [A protesting whinny this time.] -and yet I am to rely on it for my defense against all this strange world might strike with?

[It's thoughtfully said, as if this 'Xemnas' has no investment in the question or possible answers.]

[It's repeated with slow thoughtfulness; he has the pronunciation right at least. It's naggingly familiar, but Xemnas can't quite pin down why.]

[ She hopes they don't; she wouldn't know what to do. At the same time... maybe? Just to see what he's actually like up close and personal without his powers domineering the rest of them. He seems to be taking this a lot better than she thought he would. ]

[A touch of amusement creeps into his voice.]

Paying it forward, then. Do not underestimate the value of given aid at the appropriate time and place, child. The thorn you remove today may gain the assistance of a lion tomorrow.

[It's a bit of a cold way of looking at it, even kindness stripped down to its usefulness - but Xemnas wouldn't offer what might be advice if he didn't think it would be worthwhile. In his own way, he is painfully predictable. It might not be dangerous to encounter him, with the right preparation.]

... Tell me, if you know. Where might one find a 'grass type' pokemon, close to this town?

Yes, si-- [ Pause. No, she does not owe him her loyalty. Lost that a long time ago, but his lecturing is all too familiar. She grits her teeth for a moment. ] I'll keep that in mind.

[ He's stuck with a Blitzle for now. She already has a slew of Pokemon that can protect her just in case. Her pause now is more her trying to remember if there was a Grass type around that area. ]

I think... If you have your Pokemon headbutt some of the trees on Route 29, you could find an Exeggcute. It looks like a cluster of eggs, but it's a Grass/Psychic type.

[ And she might regret this later, but. Sighs and sends the number of the Breeding Centre his way. ]

Or you could contact this place. Since you're new, you're eligible for the "Newbie Deal," though you could still pay for one if you could afford it.

[Sir. Very few people called him that. Few people had the impulse to respond in such a fashion, in fact. The skip in Xion's wording draws one of those long, thoughtful pauses that never bodes well for anybody, but when he speaks again, it's as if he never noticed at all.]

This cluster of eggs is one individual pokemon?

[This place is weird. The sigh likewise is noted, and filed away for later. It's almost as if she was reluctant to offer it.]

I see. And it.. [There's beeping going on.] Hm, offers eggs. How peculiar. That might be difficult to travel with safely, if the egg should break..

[ She emits a sound of confirmation at his first question. His pause was also noted, but what's sort of done, is done. ]

It takes a while for them to hatch, depending on the species, and they're a lot sturdier than they may look. If you want your Grass type, they'll send it to you when you get to a Pokemon Center. [ Pause. ] A place to heal your Pokemon for free.

[Xemnas doesn't ask about it. He's content to wonder, and not pursue it just yet. After all, if he demands answers, he might not gain the information he needs about how this bizarre world functions.]

Hm. Is this healing always free? How frequently might one use it? Presumably you have tended these eggs in the past, how long is .. 'a while'?

[Toting an egg around for months is seriously going to interfere.]

It's always free, but people can volunteer to work with the staff if they want.

A week is the usual time given. It's made quicker if they're placed against a Fire type Pokemon. For the stronger species, it might be two weeks.

[ Waiting is waiting. She's pretty sure Xemnas, of all people, could handle that. ]

[Xemnas could be endlessly patient when he had to be. But if he didn't have to be, he preferred prompt results. But two weeks doesn't sound completely awful..]

I see.

[Volunteering: Exceedingly unlikely.]

Possessing no fire species, I suppose the full duration will be required. Again, your assistance has been ... appreciated.

[There's another pause. Courtesy alone demanded he respond properly, not with the dry scorn the idea of luck would normally gain. He's not Luxord. He relies on good planning, not chance. But after a moment, his response follows, just a touch amused again. But only a little.]
