[Audio only. The voice is a rather pleasant baritone.]
Good evening, denizens of this new world, human and pokemon alike. I am Xemnas. Perhaps there will be a few of you who recognize such a name.
[His pleasant tone never wavers; there's almost no emotional inflection at all.] This is a world I know little of. I have studied the information I have been able to find, and this little foal has been very dutiful in attempting to aid me in that search. [At this, there is a small, cheerful-sounding "Blitz!" in the background.]
If one could supply further information, or where to find it, I would be ... grateful. But tell me, countless unknown strangers, is it truly so that the humans of this world avoid combat in favor of asking their pokemon to do it for them? My small friend here seems incapable of fighting anything much tougher than a tumbleweed- [A protesting whinny this time.] -and yet I am to rely on it for my defense against all this strange world might strike with?
[It's thoughtfully said, as if this 'Xemnas' has no investment in the question or possible answers.]
[OOC: yeah I stole the sample post off my app. ;_; guilty.]

Date: 2013-07-22 08:41 pm (UTC)I-- [Ahem, focus.] I had thought the same thing about my, eh...pokemon. They look weak and small, but these creatures are quite strong in their own regard. I've only come here some two weeks ago, and already my cute Bearsy has grown stronger through battle. Don't underestimate their strength - they're quite determined to please us, so they try rather hard to succeed as well. And if you've come to the same place I had been in when I first arrived, the wild beasts around shouldn't be too much stronger than yours. And these animals do gain strength and skill through battle.
You may be surprised by yours' potential if you commit to raising it properly.

Date: 2013-07-22 08:54 pm (UTC)[Attempted. Which suggests he's asked some things that a blitzle simply can't do. Nonetheless, his pleasant if somewhat detached tone never wavers.]
Perhaps I will have to test her strength against the local wildlife soon, then. A stronger ally is always useful. Although I have the information given to presumably everyone upon arrival, I must ask; as a new arrival yourself, is there anything you would advise, or advise against, by way of attempting to train a pokemon properly?

Date: 2013-07-22 11:25 pm (UTC)She would never mistake that voice, and when he says the name-- her jaw tightens. Alarm bells ring out--
Until she remembers he's just as powerless as the rest of them. He was no longer her boss, even if she keeps the coat out of necessity and the fact that there's still fond memories attached to it. Just like most people from her world when they arrive, he must also have a heart... if he even cared to notice, anyway.
So, yeah. Have a few minutes of weird silence on one end, Xemnas. She's trying to decide whether or not to form a response. ]
audio;
Date: 2013-07-22 11:27 pm (UTC)Yes, it's true. Whatever weapons or powers we had before coming here, they're gone. We're just as... normal as the rest of the people around us.

Date: 2013-07-22 11:33 pm (UTC)[Xemnas may recognize this voice-- it's distinctly Riku, but the way he speaks carries a sharper tone than he would as of KH2 or even 3D. He's still got his confident exterior from his island days, and the name Xemnas sounds wholly unfamiliar to him.]
You're expected to use Pokémon to defend yourself. Weapons are completely illegal, so most people just let their partners duke it out. And it does come with perks. Train a Pokémon enough, and they'll become stronger, even evolve. That said... you don't have to rely on them alone. There are loopholes if you'd rather carry your own weight.
[audiooo]
Date: 2013-07-22 11:33 pm (UTC)The clatter might be a bit weird. When nothing changes, it's pawed at briefly with a hoof, but the noise of investigation draws Xemnas away from whatever he was doing. Didn't he have that thing in a pack just a moment ago? A quiet 'Stop that' keeps the blitzle from going for the item again with reaching muzzle.
And then there's a voice. One he doesn't recognize past a vague familiarity. Young, by his guess. Teens somewhere. Surely another stranger in a strange world.]
There is something to be said for normalcy. For being defenseless, less so. To rely on something unfamiliar for something so basic can be a trial. Have you lost much, in the transition from where you were to where you are?
[There's no inflection, really. Surely like everyone else he's gained a heart in arriving here but it doesn't seem to have changed ... anything.]
[More sounds]
Date: 2013-07-22 11:37 pm (UTC)I prefer to not rely completely on others for my own wellbeing. Trust poorly placed can lead to disaster. What form of loopholes do you speak of? What enforces such foolish seeming laws?
[Evolution he's heard of. Read a little about. It brought about more power, and that would be useful, but until then..
In the background, there's a clatter of impatient hoof-dancing and a snort.]
My small companion seems displeased at the idea.
[audiooo]
Date: 2013-07-22 11:39 pm (UTC)[ Pause. He doesn't seem to recognize her. That might actually be a good thing. ]
But it's not like we let go of the experiences we had briefly. There are stricter rules on carrying anything that can be considered a weapon, but that doesn't mean there can't be other means.
[sounds and stuff]
Date: 2013-07-22 11:45 pm (UTC)One may not wield a weapon, but one may set their ... pokemon, on another individual and let it do the damage instead? What strange reasoning this world has. The pokemon becomes the weapon. It is no different than wielding a blade.
[sounds and stuff]
Date: 2013-07-22 11:50 pm (UTC)he does that a lot on his own, anyway. ]It's also illegal to attack people with our Pokemon, too. [ And the realization that there might be those types of people, well... ] The point is to battle other Pokemon and train and become stronger. Not... harm.
[audio]
Date: 2013-07-22 11:59 pm (UTC)[Xemnas is one of those! Sometimes.]
Illegality will not prevent them from doing what they wish, and strength for the sake of strength is wasted effort. Surely there is more to this world than pit-fighting for bragging rights.
Date: 2013-07-22 11:59 pm (UTC)[Like some of the more aggressive wild pokémon, or taking on a gym for the badge.]
They get stronger the more they battle, though. What else do you want to know?

Date: 2013-07-23 12:07 am (UTC)[Oh, he hears that snorting, and he chuckles at the sound.]
Displeased at what, though? You not playing by the rules or it having to fight?
[Audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 12:09 am (UTC)[audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 12:10 am (UTC)That's what this world is all about. It has its own mysteries and logic, so maybe you would have a better time trying to figure those out.
[ Another pause, but it's a lot shorter. Just to get things clear on the matter: ]
Just don't seek out people to intentionally harm them. There will be people to stop you.
[audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 12:13 am (UTC)The weapons ban is on sharp objects and projectiles alone?
[Not that his own favored weapons were sharp anyway but it was so ridiculously arbitrary that it was really, really irritating.
The realization that it was actually irritating stops Xemnas for a few minutes; the pause may well be sudden and strange. When he speaks again his tone is pleasantly neutral once more.]
She very much wishes to fight, if her behavior is any indication. Thus either she is far more obliging to the law than I am, or she is displeased that I don't wish to rely on her. While she can understand me, I'm afraid understanding her has been much more troublesome.
[audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 12:17 am (UTC)[Xemnas isn't keen on being wasteful. He sounds a touch disapproving.]
However being capable of it should the need ever arise is not. There is a vital difference. I assume you understand it.

Date: 2013-07-23 12:23 am (UTC)[ Well, he doesn't seem to have changed from the mindset that he'd rather keep things if they proved some use than discard them outright. Such a contrast to Saix. ]
Did you arrive in a place called New Bark Town?
[audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 12:28 am (UTC).... Yes. It seems many new people to this world arrive here. I am considering taking the 'ferry' to another town, however, due to what I understand to be the balance of weaknesses and strengths in elemental types.
[For a moment, he sounds a touch wistful.]
If battle there must be, then there is no reason to not see to my little friend's strongest advantage. It will spare undue harm and effort.
[Audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 12:32 am (UTC)You don't have to make them fight. You can breed them and give away the babies. Or raise them. I'm happy just spending time with them and getting to see all the sights.
audiooo~
Date: 2013-07-23 12:41 am (UTC)Just train it and get badges. Eventually they'll be able to fly you where ever you want to go.
[Audio]
Date: 2013-07-23 12:45 am (UTC)... Perhaps in time I will find a task that suits me, so long as I am here.
