[The video clicks on to focus not on Xemnas, but a rather sedate looking kadabra carefully picking burrs out of a blitzle's fur, the ever-present kadabra-spoon held in its teeth. Both have rather new looking and fairly loose black collars studded with small silvery ...studs, and a single bright silver charm a little too distant to make out clearly. Neither seem to mind said collars, possibly because they'd be able to get them off very easily if they wanted to. When Xemnas speaks, likely the one holding the camera, he sounds bemused.]

I have finally seen evolution in this world for myself, but not with one of the pokemon I have had the longest. Is it odd, that the abra I captured not so long ago, evolved so quickly into its next form? Or is this common for wild-caught pokemon? I have high hopes of seeing the second stage of Regret's own evolution soon.

[The blitzle notices the camera first and perks up visibly. Then begins making faces at it, no small fete for a horselike face. Aside from a slow flick of its rather fluffy tail, the kadabra doesn't bother to divert from its goal of burrs.]

Additionally the growlithe that had chosen to accompany me is still present. If anyone is desirous of having a free growlithe, alert me and I will bring it somewhere you can capture it. To the young man I purchased the gastly egg from: it is a remarkable creature, and one I suspect I will keep for some time. You must be very pleased with its parents.

I would think the considerable effort I've put into the pokemon I've had longer would have resulted in swifter evolutions than one I've possessed for mere days. ...My starter. Mm.

[It's not particularly loud, but it is a command. And one that little blitzle immediately obeys, hauling herself to her hooves, burrs and all, and bouncing over with a distinctly cheerful air.]

This is my first. And currently, my strongest.

It is possible. I haven't yet determined what the evolutionary trigger is for blitzles yet. Perhaps the threshold for strength is simply higher than it is for an abra. You do not own one, I take it?

Actually, that's probably pretty normal. Different pokémon take different amounts of time to go through the stages. Caterpie and Weedle are two pokémon that evolve twice by the time that they're levels reach the double digits.

You're first pokémon must just be one of them that takes longer to reach their second stage.

[Most of the video is still of the pokemon, with the blitzle working on getting her teeth on that pokegear with the occasional playful snap. Xemnas doesn't seem to want to have it eaten, and thus the teeth never connect.]

Is that so? I have seen little of either caterpies or weedles in the wild.. at the very least, Regret does not seem interested in her own evolution just yet. Nor my deerling. I suppose I will simply have to be patient. Unless of course you know at what point a blitzle ordinarily progresses to zebstrika? Or deerling to sawsbuck?

I'm... not sure off of the top of my head. Let me check.

[ She's going to go to the pokédex entry real quick, and check for both of them, before coming back to talk to Xemnas. ]

It looks like Blitzle evolves at level 27, and Deerling evolves at level 34. Which would be pretty long for a first evolution, but neither of them have any evolutions beyond that.

Good day too you Xemnas. Congratulations on your first evolution. None of my Pokemon have undergone the transformation but it is not a matter of significance to us just yet.

Why not keep the fire hound for yourself? Loyalty and devotion are not easy to find, but the Growlithe seems to have attached itself to you and your Pokemon.

It seems as though there are many mysteries that this world holds. I myself have yet to see an evolution up close, but it sounds as though it's something to behold.

[ in the background for tsubasa, there's a ponyta and glameow resting under a tree. they were most likely outside of violet city for a little while. since she had been busy studying along with working at the pokemon centre, it seemed like they were content to just have her in their presence. it wouldn't be long before glameow started getting catty with his trainer again though. he's rather mischievous. ]

My, it seems like the little Growlithe likes you! I think he might be sad if you tried to get rid of him, sir.

[Politeness gains politeness, as ever; if Xemnas is aware secrets were being divulged and warnings handed out (which he doesn't), there's no sign of it. There is however, a brief smile.]

I see you've gained a new companion yourself. Is it working out well for you? [There's a pause.] Unfortunately our personalities are incompatible, and taking care of another pokemon is at this time unfeasible. It would be better if it served a trainer better suited to it. I suspect it was abandoned to begin with, due to its ... very tame nature. The wild pokemon I have caught are distinctly different, though it may also be species-differences.

As a result of your information the last time we spoke, I was able to contact the breeding centre and purchase an egg from them. Their delivery was surprisingly efficient, and that is how I received my Ponyta.

[ thinking for a moment, she glances over her shoulder and then back at the video feed. she's not familiar with the move pool of the growlithe, but for tsubasa it seems like the path she should take. if the pokemon doesn't have a home, and needs one, it only makes sense for her to take it - right? it's like the situation with the hindering cat.. ]

I suppose if you don't have a home for the Growlithe, I can take it off your hands. If when it grows into its evolved form I can make use of it as a breeder, then it will have served a greater purpose. It would be better than being left somewhere, or unused in your care.

[Seeing the rather...peculiar-looking creature has Perona making a slight face - it's not a very attractive pokemon, definitely - but she recognizes the voice immediately, and then the Blitzle, and perks up immediately. Ah, so then that was Xemnas', eh...what'd he call it? And Abra? Yes, that must be what it grew to become.

...Not very cute at all. She much preferred the smaller, more cuddly-looking version. Even so, she may as well congratulate Xemnas on his pokemon's growth.]

Congratulations, Xemnas-san. I'm still waiting to see it for myself, though I have been training more frequently nowadays... I'd like Mihawk to grow, so that I can actually ride him once I get that stupid badge, but I thought it'd be wiser to try and train...another one. [Her tone changes, and Perona grumbles a little. She must be talking about her Cranidos.] But she doesn't listen at all, so it's been difficult. I may try again, with another...but it'd good to know you've been having better luck than I with your pokemon.

Ah, Miss Perona. Why not train two of them side-by-side? There is no reason you can't send your little bird to assist whichever other one you are training. Then both of them benefit equally. I do this quite frequently with my own, as cooperation and teamwork are reliable strategies.

[Not at all...and it;s somewhat turned her off of even capturing one if that is what it grows to become. Ugh...why can't cute little monsters become stronger and just stay sweet and cute?

And oh, finally she can see the mysterious stranger she's been talking to all this time! She says nothing about it, but Peron does indeed take in his appearance by looking him up and down calmly. Not bad, but quite younger looking than she expected. At least he's handsome.]

I suppose I could do that... It'd save me the headache of having to deal with Mariejoa's constant disobedience at the least! Honestly, I've been doing that to train my little one some, but it may just be better to strengthen the others. They'll need to be t their best to win me that first badge.

[Though the mentions of a Growlithe stalker? That makes him end up with a chuckle and flip his pokedex open to type at it, eventually pulling up the information of an Arcanine, sharing the photo.]

You sure you don't want it? It eventually grows big enough to ride, and they're fiercely loyal. Actually called "a legendary" for its speed.

Abras apparently are on the 'faster' scale. I have heard of stone based evolutions, but happiness is a new method.

I am certain I don't want this one. Our personalities do not mesh well at all. I would prefer a pokemon I don't wish to throw off a cliff now and again just to see if it bounces when it hits the bottom. One must resist such violent urges of course, but I vastly prefer more even-tempered creatures as companions. I do need a fire-type for my mixed set, just ... not ... this one.

[A faint grumble.]

Thankfully there is a young lady willing to take it off my hands very soon. I just need to get it to her.

Yeah? Then maybe you'd be more interested in something like this, since the puppy isn't your taste. [Turning the screen, there's a large Charizard that flares out his wings when he realizes he's being filmed, and curls his lip to puff smoke through his snout.]

He's not as fast as an Arcanine, but he's part flying type and can learn dragon type moves. Maybe you can ask if the girl happens to have a Charmander, because this is the fire lizards final form, and it would be a good trade overall.

That's absolutely certain, Xemnas was nothing if not prompt about investigating when someone tries to contact him. But of all the people he expects to do so, he's not expecting this one. First it's the familiarity of voice that makes him stop; his memories before Radiant Garden were spotty at best. The silence is the measured weighing of what he thinks it is versus the endless other possibilities. But eventually, there is a response.

It just takes time.]

No. The more vital question is, will it be kinder in the future?

He has an idea of how Xemnas' mind works, and the notion of being confronted by a time-displaced version of oneself - or one's Somebody, perhaps - was something that required careful consideration. There's little doubt that the Nobody would come to the proper conclusion, so Xehanort is content to wait.

The answer is curious, as it implies much but does not give much away... typical. An unseen grin crosses his face.]

That all depends on what one considers 'kinder'. To a Nobody, what does such a thing mean? To be confronted by a man when once only will and darkness remained implies much.

Nah, that's not too odd. They all evolve at different times. I've been here about four months, and my starter just evolved. His kind is one of the ones that takes the longest, though, so I wouldn't worry about it taking that long.

Well, it wasn't necessarily constant. I started with a Rufflet - evolves at level 54. Here-
